Route №31. Salmon fishing (Angling) trip on the Opala river.

Operation period - from June till October

The Opala river flows in the mountainous south-west part of Kamchatka und runs into the Sea of Okhotsk . The river is remote from villages and roads. You get by helicopter to the place where the fishing begins as well as back to the city at the end of the tour. Fishing is arranged both from the river bank and floating rafts at the stretch of about 80km. It is practically impossible to have no catch on this river, as it abounds in various kinds of salmon and trout.

1st day.Arrival at the airport. Transfer to the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, accommodation at a hotel (DBL), rest. Driving to Paratunka resort area, swimming in hot thermal water pools, coming back to the hotel.
2nd day.Helicopter flight to the Opala river (1 hour). Beginning of fishing and rafting. Camping for the night.
3-4-5-6-7th days.Rafting and fishing. Observing wildlife, including brown bear, and superb scenery. Rafting takes place in the area of majestic mountains and volcanoes in virgin countryside. There are many good places for fishing. The river abounds with salmon of various kinds, char and trout. Camping for the nights.
8th day.Ending of rafting and fishing. Helicopter flight back (1 hour), driving to Paratunka resort area. Accommodation in a boarding house, rest, swimming in thermal water pools.
9th day.City tour. Visiting fish market. Purchasing souvenirs. Transfer to the airport.

!!! In August and September it is possible to buy this tour cheaper. In this case instead of helicopter flight you get to the starting point of the tour (upper reaches of the Opala river) by off-road vehicle. And you finish the tour at the Opala river mouth, where from you also get back to Paratunka resort area by off-road vehicle. The total rafting stretch is about 140km.On rafting there are some rapids (the 3d Category). This tour lasts 11 days.

Each participant is requested to have a backpack, a sleeping bag, a mat, fishing tackles, and personal belongings, bathing accessories.
